Key Features

Online video-conference with a trained examiner; no written test.

Levels

12 grades grouped into 4 stages, aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) from pre-A1 (Grade 1) to C2 (Grade 12):

  • Initial Stage (Grades 1–3): Pre-A1 to A2.1 | 5–7 minutes (greetings, routines, basic conversation)
  • Elementary Stage (Grades 4–6): A2.2 to B1.2 | 10 minutes (prepared topic and conversation phases)
  • Intermediate Stage (Grades 7–9): B2.1 to B2.3 | 15 minutes
  • Advanced Stage (Grades 10–12): C1.1 to C2 | 25 minutes (formal presentation, topic discussion, interactive phase, listening, and conversation)

Grading

Assessed via task fulfilment into four grades: A (Distinction), B (Merit), C (Pass), and D (Fail).

Why choose GESE?

  • Pure Communication: 100% focused on speaking and listening with zero reading or written exam papers.
  • Real Conversation: Authentic, unscripted interaction with a human examiner that mimics real-world communication.
  • Personalized Topics: Candidates choose and prepare their own discussion topic (Grade 4+), boosting confidence and engagement.
  • Global Trust: Fully aligned with the CEFR and backed by the prestigious ALTE Q-mark for guaranteed quality and fairness.

  • Young Learners: It serves as a gentle, low-stress first step to build oral confidence with a native examiner.
  • Special Educational Needs (SEN): The exam is fully inclusive and communicative, making it an excellent choice even for children with special learning needs (such as dyslexia, ADHD, or learning difficulties) who face barriers with traditional, heavy reading-and-writing exam papers.
  • The Private Sector: Highly valued by businesses and companies that prioritize practical speaking and real-world communication over theoretical grammar skills.
